Teach Me Bass Guitar

Is bass Guitar easy after you you have played guitar?
I have been playing guitar for about a year and 5 months and I am pretty ok and I am thinking of getting a bass guitar and teach myself… Is it easy?
A common misconception that many people have is that bass is easier than guitar. I play both of them so I am not biased towards one. For a lot of rock and pop music, ANYONE with no musical experience at all could play the bass if someone just told them what frets to play and when. If you are going to play funk or (in some cases) types of death metal then the bass is equally as difficult and sometimes even more difficult than guitar. Unfortunately, many bassists are terrible and uncreative so they only play the root of the chord and it makes the bass seem like an easy instrument (don’t get me wrong, it is important for the bass to play the root, but there are many cases where something else should be added to make it sound less dull).
Now to answer your question, everything on a bass is much bigger than a guitar. The strings are thicker, the neck is wider and longer, etc. which technically makes it more difficult to play if you were to try playing a guitar part. There is also the switch from using a pick to using your fingers which may take some time to getting used to. It is also more difficult to mute every other string once you change to another because there is a bigger space between them and they are thicker so they require more pressure to stop them from ringing. It is a similar instrument, but very different at the same time. Playing guitar first will give you the basic skills you need to pick up a bass and play it but it will take awhile to get used to the differences.
