Fastest Way To Learn Guitar – Is it a Hoax? by Rickey Rayner
What is it about the guitar that makes it so damn cool and sexy? Is it the unbelievable tones and sounds that emanate from such a small and mobile instrument? Is it the long list of guitar greats that have been immortalized gyrating around on stage in front of thousands of screaming fans? Is it simply the fame and fortune that goes with being a famous musician? For myself, it was watching the greats such as Hendrix and Clapton. But it was the perceived difficulty in learning such an instrument that led me to bin the $200 electric Fender Strat imitation and take up “guitar hero” on a Sony Play Station instead.
It wasn’t until i accidentally discovered an advanced online guitar tutoring system that i decided to dust off the old Strat imitation and give it a go. Being a skeptic at heart I initially approached the program with reluctance. I had a fear that the perceived difficulty in learning this instrument would lead to nothing but frustration and many broken guitars. But with a little dedication, i was flabbergasted!!!. My skepticism in such a product, an online product for that matter, was totally unwarranted.
After only 2 nights i was playing chords and scales. I wasn’t ripping it up, but I couldn’t believe the sounds and notes that my own hands were making. It was the ease in which this system tutors, and the excitement of learning something so quickly, that inspired me to many sleepless nights and a fast track to a professional music career.
After 6mths i was playing solo covers in bars and after 12 mths i was playing original material at music festivals to an audience of over 10000. But is this system real or is it a Hoax? Was i just a naturally gifted learner and guitar player? I can tell you that both the latter are definitely not the case.
I was a high school drop out. I suffer from dyslexia and find that learning was a difficult task due to my reading abilities. This system utilizes DVD tutorials that is like having a whole suite of guitar teachers at your disposal. This system taught me how to collaborate with others and also how to break out of the garage and into the pub scene.
I guess the purpose of writing this article is to dispel any fears that readers may have in learning something new. Whether its a language, an instrument, reading, writing, or simply cooking a recipe. There are tools available that assist in the learning curve. I was lucky that i found a great tool and decided to give it a go.
